The talk on Wednesday afternoon, issuing from people gathered in Lyoness’s living room, was all about her—Sandwich’s most famous canine—and her safe return after three weeks in the deep, cold woods of East Sandwich.
Before the timid Newfoundland was found by a professional tracker late Friday night, Lyoness had been pursued by scores of residents from all over Cape Cod, drones, and even concerned selectmen. She reached celebrity status as her story was spread by newspapers, social media posts, “lost dog” posters, and word of mouth.
